Cozy

My main line of artwork explores the best of motherhood: bringing comfort, being present, and being an endless well of love.

I choose subjects that elicit feelings of comfort and nostalgia by portraying scenes of soft fabrics, fresh produce and baked goods, and vintage dinnerware. I use fabric to gently wrap objects implying care and protection. Elements in my art like produce or shade from a tree represents the people we care for and the fleeting phases they go through. Like fresh produce or the shade from a tree, a baby's rolls don’t last forever, but neither do difficult times like potty training. Whether the phases are full of joy or feel impossible, they are all temporary.

Stuffies

My newest line of artwork explores the worst of motherhood: chaos, mental load, and endless messes with a touch of humor. Hey if you’re not laughing, your crying.

Using my children’s stuffed animals, I create playful still lifes that, upon closer examination, suggest stress and disorder. A fluorescent pink ground intensifies the energy, while the large scale of the works conveys the overwhelming nature of the subject. Here, I combine oil pastels for the subjects with flat acrylic backgrounds, creating a contrast in texture that mirrors the contrast between childhood exuberance and parental exhaustion.
